Gold Cross EMS Academy Programs

Emergency Medical Services offers more than a job, it is an opportunity to develop lifesaving skills, serve your community, and build a career with room to grow. Gold Cross EMS Academy provides hands-on education and exam preparation for students pursuing EMT, AEMT, and EMR training.

After completing a program and meeting applicable certification requirements, graduates can pursue EMS and healthcare opportunities with Gold Cross EMS itself, hospitals, fire/rescue organizations and other care settings. Whether EMS is your long-term profession of choice or the first step toward a broader healthcare career, your training starts here.

Gold Cross EMS Academy is an approved training site by the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma (GA OEMST), the National Registry of EMTs (NREMT), National Association of EMTs (NAEMT) and the American Heart Association (AHA).

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Our Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course is typically 4-5 months long, held 1-2 days per week, during normal business hours (9am-5pm). This course meets the requirements for students to obtain their license in Georgia or South Carolina as an EMT, after successfully completing the course and passing the NREMT cognitive exam. EMTs are able to work in a variety of settings including 911 service and medical transport.

Our next EMT class is slated to begin in November 2026. The application period for this class will open September 1st, 2026.

The cost of the EMT course is $500.00, thanks to the Georgia Trauma Commission grant program. Minimum initial payment of $250.00 is required by the first day of class.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

Our Emergency Medical Responder course is 4 weeks long, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours (9am-5pm). This course meets the requirements for students to obtain their license in Georgia as an EMT-R, after successfully completing the course and passing the NREMT cognitive exam. EMT-Rs work with an EMT or higher and function as the operator of the ambulance to and from scenes.

The cost of this course is $1,000.00 (half of the total cost due by the first day of class), unless the student is hired in as an employee. To be eligible to be hired, the individual must be 21-years of age or older, have a clean driving record, complete a criminal background check and pass a pre-employment drug screen. In addition, the individual must complete the Medical Physical Agility Test (MedPAT). Additional requirements may be necessary. Other payment options are available upon request.

Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

Our Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) course are typically 6-7 months long, held 1-2 days per week, during normal business hours (9am-5pm). This course meets requirements for students who are already certified/licensed as an EMT to obtain their license in Georgia or South Carolina as an AEMT, after successfully completing the course and passing the NREMT cognitive exam.

Our next AEMT course is projected to begin in Spring of 2027. Check back for details.

The cost of this course is $1,800.00 with half of the total cost due by the first day of class. Discounts available to eligible EMTs who are employed by Gold Cross EMS.
